We are pleased to report that the NJ Senate PASSED S-708, the "Transparency in Government Act," on June 10th, 29-3. This bill includes amendments presented by Morris Patriots.
S-708, if adopted by the General Assembly and signed by the Governor, would require all agencies of the State, the Legislature, the Judiciary, all counties, municipalities, authorities and school boards that receive ANY state funds, to create websites to disclose in detail ALL expenditures, including the NAMES OF ALL PAYEES.
The bill's Prime Sponsors are Sen. Joseph Pennacchio (R-26) and Sen. Richard Codey (D-27). Co-Sponsors include Sen. Steven Oroho (R-24), Sen. Thomas Kean Jr. (R-21), Sen. Anthony Bucco (R-25), Sen. Christopher Connors (R-9), Sen. Christopher Bateman (R-16), Sen. Andrew Ciesla (R-10) and Sen. Kevin O'Toole (R-40).
WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW: Become familiar with S-708, and begin to speak with members of the full NJ General Assembly to encourage their support for it. In a few weeks, we will issue an alert as the bill comes before Assembly committee(s) and then the full General Assembly. Gov. Christie supports the bill.
Please email the above Senators (click on their names or view their email addresses on our Action Tools page) to thank them for bringing this important initiative to New Jersey.

Why Won't Any President Defend our Borders?
Another piece of the puzzle may have been found by Michael Savage. First it was "the illegals do work American's won't do." That didn't fly, and many conservatives assumed it was the hunt for Democrat votes that motivated the endless supply of illegals ... whence to be granted amnesty and then the right to vote.
But that didn't resolve the questions either. Two days ago, Michael Savage summarized quotes and notes from a number of leaders, pointing to a goal of unifying Mexico and the United States (and Canada) beyond the "North American Free Trade Zone," and closer to the European Economic Union - but under one leader.
On May 22, in a broadcast speech with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, our President said, "In the 21st century, we are not defined by our BORDERS, but by our bonds ... so let us stand together, let us face the future together, let us work together..."
Coincidence ?

PS - Even as the Mexican President accused Arizona of "violating the human rights of all people," the Washington Times reported that Mexico's immigration laws are even tougher!
Odd that the president of a country that is more strict on who it lets in should be criticizing Arizona . . .

* Our great thanks to Tea Party Patriots and Heritage Foundation for their help on this issue * TeaPartyPatriots.org
(Posted 4/19/10):
Senate 3217 is scheduled to hit the Senate Floor on FRIDAY. After 72 hours, it can be posted for a full Senate vote. This "blank check" legislation, introduced by Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), is like TARP Forever. Continuing the long socialist myth tradition of saying the exact opposite of what you mean, the measure is named, "The Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010."
S3217 grants permanent, unlimited bailout authority to the Federal Reserve. It gives the Fed the power to take over vaguely defined "nonbank financial companies". It gives the Fed the power to decide what constitutes a "nonbank financial company" on a case by case basis.
It creates the Consumer Financial Protection Agency, another deceptive term, that according to The Heritage Foundation, will make it more difficult for customers to access new technologies by imposing massive new regulations on entrepreneurs.
Was the timing of the SEC charges against Goldman Sachs a coincidence? Read Rush Limbaugh's excellent time line of events [his radio transcript for April 20]
Note that the financial industry does not operate in an unregulated market today. Worse, many of the economic meltdown problems were caused by the Federal regulations demanding financial institutions make sub-prime mortgages available to low income groups (that would never be able to pay them back). Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan has admitted as much [in statements made April 20 before the Senate Budget Committee].
We worry also about the inferred coercion - consider how FREE a business would feel to donate to conservative campaigns when the Administration has power to declare that business "in danger of failing".
This is bad legislation. We urge you to hit the emails, phones, faxes to STOP IT !
WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW

Grassfire is reporting that the game plan used for Obamacare will be repeated ... for the "cap and tax" energy tax. The method: Rahm Emanuel lays out the game plan, Dems present the main points but no bill is available for public review, Dems skip the normal committee process and rush it to the floor for a vote (but the "deal" is done behind the scenes).
Senators Kerry, Lieberman and Graham announced that they will be introducing their bill April 26. Grassfire says, "they aren't going to actually 'introduce' the bill. Instead, they are going to hand it to Harry Reid so Reid can take it straight to the Senate floor and bypass the committees! Human Events reports Joe Lieberman said, "If we introduce [the carbon tax bill], it'll get referred to committees... We want [Majority Leader Reid] to be able to work with it and bring it out onto the floor as a leader whenever he's ready."

The Senate seems to be taking the lead. It's not too early to start your phone calls, faxes, emails and other contacts with our esteemed Senators from NJ and elsewhere to let them know how you feel about this. Go to our Action Tools page for many tools you can use to make this easier.

"TO ADVANCE THE AGENDA"
On Feb. 1, we testified in favor of S-708. Sen. Pennacchio is planning amendments to extend this to ALL counties, municipalities, school districts and public authorities.
In the General Assembly, Jay Webber, Alison Littell McHose and Gary Chiusano have introduced a similar measure, A146, with 9 co-sponsors AND also A158, with Upendra Chivukula also a prime sponsor, and 10 co-sponsors.
Morris Patriots endorses this legislation, which would be a major step forward in holding government accountable to 'We The People' (who pay for all things). Read our testimony, [here].
U.S. Senate Again Increases Debt
The U.S. Senate voted, Jan. 28, to boost the national debt ANOTHER $1.9 trillion - so that we now will owe $14.3 TRILLION.
President Obama complains that President Bush increased the debt from $4.1 trillion to $8.1 trillion - over 4 years. In his FIRST year as President, Obama has now INCREASED the debt by $6.2 over the Bush debt.
