Action in U.S. Senate: CNS News reports that "Republican Senators Lindsey Graham (S.C.) and John Barrasso (Wyo.) introduced a bill on Tuesday that would allow states to opt out of any part of the controversial new health care law, known as Obamacare, including the individual and employer insurance mandates. Those mandates require individuals to purchase health insurance or pay a penalty, or an employer to provide insurance or pay a penalty. [Conservatives for Patients' Rights]

This week, U.S. Senate continues final debate, leading toward a Senate vote on national health care, in late December or early January. Reid's Senate version (the 'starting point' on the Senate side), is S.1679.

Note: After the Nov. 3 election of Chris Christie, some Dem constituents in NJ said they stayed away from the polls because they were angry with the Dems ... FOR NOT BEING LIBERAL/SOCIALISTING ENOUGH !! Which illustrates why it is so important for Conservatives and Republicans to continue to fight!
With 12 working days left in 2009 for the Senate, we believe leadership will seek FAST action to minimize objections.

House Approved Health Care Nov. 7
11/5/09 -- Americans for Prosperity/NJ, MorrisPatriots.org, and other groups mustered 27 buses full of patriots who traveled to Washington Nov. 5 to attend a rally and visit congressional offices .....
The House of Representatives passed its version of the plan to nationalize health care on Nov. 7 by a vote of 220-215. One Republican voted for it (Rep. Anh Joseph Cao of LA), 39 Democrats voted against. All NJ Republicans voted against it.
As adopted, the plan includes a significant last-minute amendment by Rep. Bart Stupack (D-MI), strongly backed by the U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops and a block of pro-life Democrats. Without it, the Pelosi bill would have failed passage. The amendment changed the Pelosi plan to block taxpayer support for abortions AND blocks anyone who receives taxpayer subsidies for health insurance (which will be the majority of Americans) from buying private insurance that would pay for an abortion. The Pelosi bill does include a public government-run insurance program, and will create more than 110 new federal agencies that will be involved in regulating health care for all Americans.
HOW THEY VOTED - NJ's John Adler (D-NJ-3) broke with the Democrats to vote AGAINST the Pelosi Health Plan. He voted against the Stupak anti-abortion amendment. All other NJ Democrats (Andrews, Pallone, Pascrell, Rothman, Payne, Holt, Sires) voted FOR the Pelosi plan and AGAINST the amendment that would ban taxpayer funding of abortions. All NJ Republicans opposed the Pelosi Health Plan and voted FOR the ban on taxpayer funding of abortions (Frelinghuysen, LoBiondo, Smith, Garrett, Lance).

SENATE now is debating the health care plan; Obama goes to the Hill SUNDAY to put more pressure on waivering Democrats. HR 3590 is "the legislative vehicle for the Senate's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2009" - attaching the massive health bill to existing legislation modifying tax credits for first time home buyers!
*The Nuclear Option* - This would allow a 51-vote passage via Reconciliation!

* HARRY REID PULLED TOGETHER 60 VOTES TO BRING HIS HEALTH BILL TO THE SENATE FOR DEBATE. THIS JOINS THE FINAL BATTLE & NEGOTIATION, LEADING TO A FINAL SENATE VOTE. IF HEALTH CARE IS PASSED BY THE SENATE, BOTH HOUSES WOULD HAVE TO NEGOTIATE AWAY DIFFERENCES BEFORE OBAMA COULD SIGN IT INTO LAW. THE NEXT VOTE WILL LIKELY BE LATE DECEMBER OR EARLY JANUARY, 2010.

Quick update:
- The Senate's entire approach is about central government control, a massive new entitlement program, more than 100 new federal agencies, rationing, and eliminating areas of medical care ((on 11/18 the Government proposed reductions in Breast Exams for women)).
- Reid's S-1679 DOES NOT INCLUDE THE STUPAK OR HYDE AMENDMENT LANGUAGE TO PROHIBIT TAXPAYER FUNDING OF ABORTION.
-The Senate plan uses fiscal sleght of hand and plays very loose with the fiscal numbers. It ignores the 50% of Medicaid costs pushed to the States. It begins taxing immediately, but postpones providing care until 2014. It removes the cost of the "Doctor's Fix" (repeal of planned cuts to fees doctors are paid to see Medicare patients). And the COB cost projections are admittedly wild estimates.
