NEW:
New Jersey Senate EMAIL LIST, ready for you to COPY and PASTE right into your email program
[ CLICK FOR DRAFT LETTER OPPOSING S-2239 ],
the NJ Health Care Reform Implementation Council
NOTE: We suggest you open the above file, then highlight and "Copy" it as you would with a word processor file. Then open your email program, start a new email, and "Paste" into the BLIND COPY (BCC:) field. This way, each senator receives email addressed only to him/her - not a mass email that was obviously sent to everyone. (Has more impact).
ALSO: The FIRST name in the list is Senator Sweeney, President of the NJ Senate. His name should go into your TO field and all the other names in the BCC field.

* Take Action Now *
Because of the 2010 Census, EVERY member of the NJ General Assembly and EVERY member of the NJ State Senate will be up for election in 2011.
BUT ALL WILL RUN FROM *NEWLY-APPORTIONED* LEGISLATIVE DISTRICTS, DRAWN BASED ON THE CENSUS NUMBERS. SO YOU'RE CURRENT DISTRICT/LEGISLATOR MAY CHANGE. THE NJ REDISTRICTING COMMISSION HAS BEEN NAMED AND THEIR VOTE IS DUE BY MARCH 1, 2011.
We need your help. We have "the lists," but if you feel that YOUR local legislator ought to be replaced, please let us know.
If you know of someone who intends to run for office, make sure they know the DEADLINE FOR FILING A NOMINATING PETITION - FROM THEIR *NEW* LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT - is about APRIL 12 for the JUNE 7 PRIMARY. The winners of the Primary in each political party will oppose each other in the NOVEMBER 8 GENERAL ELECTION.

Generally, we'll email you with an Issue Paper that describes the issue, why it's important, give you recommended steps to take, and tell you when to do it. Otherwise, our NJ Issues page will have information, or our Home page. Or, you may learn about an issue from TV or friends.
Here are the general rules of contact:
1) In the Subject Line or header, make SPECIFIC reference to the bill number and subject matter of your communication.
2) Early on, tell them your position: support / oppose / have questions or reservations. Then, in a few sentences specifically tell them why you feel as you do. Whenever you can give a specific personal example of how a bill affects you, your letter will be stronger and more influential - so THINK whether you can provide such an example.
3) Conclude with your name, address, and phone or fax or email address. Indicate whether you need a reply. Just as you would ignore an unsigned letter of complaint, so will your legislator.
