S1872 / A2810 - Opportunity Scholarship Act
This legislation will be considered by the Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, in the State House Annex in Trenton.
This Scholarship Act would establish a 5-year pilot program to provide funding for low-income students from chronically-failing schools. It would pay for them to attend an alternative public or nonpublic school of their choice, if accepted. The Act is based, in part, on recent court decisions regarding children attending failing schools.
