The House of Representatives is the lower house of the legislature in the U.S. government. Its 435 Representatives are apportioned under the Census to fairly equally represent the total U.S. population. Each state is assigned a certain number of Representatives, based on its relative population. From 2001 to 2010, New Jersey has 13 Congressmen, but is expected to lose one seat when the 2010 Census is calculated. Home Page - House.gov
